Music producer and song writer, OJB Jezreel is a year older today and to think that he got the best gift ever - just when it seemed it wasn't going to happen, help arrived for his kidney transplant.
You will recall that the music producer who has been battling with and self financing the treatment of renal failure for the past two years, recently reached out to well meaning Nigerians to help finance the cost of the kidney transplant he is expected to undergo to remedy the precarious situation - he finally got help!
According to a statement from Nomoreloss (the #SaveOJB projejct campaign manager), Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers state, reached out to the committee with a pledge to foot the entire bill for the transplant.
Nomoreloss says:
Officials of the government reached out to us this evening, (Wednesday, June 3) promising to donate a $100,000. The presentation, they say, will be made on Friday (June 5). We are indeed grateful to the Governor and the people of Rivers State. Now we can finally have that surgical procedure’
We also appreciate the kind hearts of Nigerians who have made donations and those that supported us with prayers. May God bless them all’.
We had a place in mind initially, but recently, there’s been several suggestions from some quarters on better options. We would be having a meeting by the weekend with all concerned parties to decide which of the options is best.The musician also says the identity of the kidney donor will not be revealed.
‘The donor is a family member, but for some reason, we do not wish to disclose the identity. All that matters is for him to have a successful operation’.Insiders say that the producer who is currently at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) undergoing dialysis hopes to have a low-key celebration with a few family and friends if discharged today.
